The Woodentops

When: 1986 or 1987

Where: Record store (maybe Reckless Records?) on Haight Street in San Francisco

And: This was a live in-store performance — pretty cool to see a band play somewhere besides a typical nightclub. The highlight of the show was undoubtedly when lead singer Rolo McGinty went out front and stood on someone’s car — still playing the song.

Amoeba didn’t open in Berkeley until 1990. I was working when they played at Reckless.
